Absentee voter ballots are available to registered voters for all elections. You can apply for an absentee ballot by mail or
dowload and complete the application and return it to:

The deadline for applying for an absentee ballot by mail is the Saturday prior to Election Day by 2pm.

2020 Election Dates

August 4, 2020 - State Primary
July 20, 2020: Mail-In, Online, & Secretary of State voter registration deadline
July 21 - August 4, 2020: In-person voter registration deadline
July 31, 2020: Deadline to submit an application to receive an absentee voter ballot by mail
August 3, 2020: Deadline to obtain an absentee voter ballot in-person

Please take notice that any qualified elector of the City of Southgate who is not already registered, may register to vote at the office of the City Clerk; the Office of the County Clerk; a Secretary of State Branch office, or other designated state agency.  Registration forms can be obtained at mi.gov/vote and mailed to the City Clerk. Voters who are already registered may update their registration at www.expressSOS.com.

 The last day to register in any manner other than in-person with the local clerk is Monday, July 20, 2020.

 After this date, anyone who qualifies as an elector may register to vote in person with proof of residency (MCL168.492) at the City of Southgate Clerk’s Office, located at 14400 Dix-Toledo Road, Southgate, MI 48195 at the following times:

 Regular business hours:  Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Saturday, August 1st from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Election Day, Tuesday, August 4th from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The current pay rates are:

  • Chairperson - $200
  • Co-Chairperson- $175
  • Inspector - $160
There is a mandatory training session and compensation for said session is $15.
