The park is located in the heart of the Southgate Shopping Center, where the old Montgomery Ward's building used to stand on Eureka near Trenton Road.
This land was donated by the owner of the Southgate Shopping Center, to revitalize the area and bring more people to the area to increase foot traffic for retailers in the complex. This park is home to Southgate’s Annual Heritage Days, evening live music in the amphitheater, craft shows, farmer’s markets, and many other city events. Market Center Park is a social gathering place for residents and patrons of Southgate and Downriver.
