FOR ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSE ACTIONS

THE FORMER AMERICAN SUNROOF CORPORATION PROPERTY LOCATED AT

18640 WALNUT, SOUTHGATE, MICHIGAN

 

The City of Southgate is accepting public comments on an Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) prepared for the proposed environmental response activities at the above referenced site. The environmental response activities will consist of removal of asbestos-containing materials from the building and excavation and disposal of contaminated soil from the site. The cleanup is being funded by a subgrant from the Downriver Community Conference (DCC)’s United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Revolving Loan Fund Grant. The proposed redevelopment of the site after completion of cleanup activities is single family residential homes.

 

The Administrative Record, which contains the information upon which the final decision will be based, including copies of the ABCA, environmental reports on soil investigations, hazardous materials survey, and other related City of Southgate documents, will be available during regular business hours for review at:

PLEASE BE SURE THAT ALL YARD WASTE/COMPOST TRASH CANS ARE CLEARLY MARKED FOR THE DRIVERS. COMPOST STICKERS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBILIC SERVICES AND AT THE TREASURER'S OFFICE IN CITY HALL.

EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2014 - the Treasurer’s office will begin taking credit card payments for water bills, dog licenses, building permits, etc. These payments can be made at the Treasurer’s Office window Monday – Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.


*There will be a 3% fee with a $2.00 minimum charge to the payor; E-checks: flat fee of $3.00, up to $10,000; flat fee of $10, anything over $10,000.
